Create and Edit Bank Accounts, and Set a Default Bank Account
You can create one or more bank accounts with mattero. However, if you add multiple accounts, you will also need to select one account to act as your organisation's default bank account.
This default account is used for Trust Invoice payments, syncing with Xero, and managing Invoices.
Creating a Bank Account
To create a bank account with mattero:
- On the sidebar, select System (
).
- Under Trust Accounting, select Trust and Bank Accounts.
- Under the General Bank Accounts tab, select Create Bank Account.
- Fill out the details in the window that opens as needed.
Please note, selecting a Default Payee is an optional field used to automatically fill the "Paid To" field when recording Invoice Payments in mattero.

Editing Bank Accounts and Setting a Default Bank Account
Once one or more bank accounts have been created with mattero, their details can be edited and a default bank account can be set.
Please note, if you have only created one bank account, this is automatically set as your organisation's default bank account.
Further, if you have integrated with Xero, you must ensure the same bank account is used for both your Xero and mattero accounts.
To set a default bank account:
- On the sidebar, select System (
).
- Under Trust Accounting, select Trust and Bank Accounts.
- Under the General Bank Accounts tab, select the Actions menu of a bank account, then select Set Default.
Alternatively, to edit a bank account's details:
- Under the General Bank Accounts tab, select the Actions menu of a bank account, then select Edit Details.
Please note, you can also select Delete to remove the bank account's details from mattero, however this may affect any ongoing Trust or Invoice transactions you have with this bank account.
- Edit the bank account's details as needed in the window that opens, or select select Delete to remove the bank account's details from mattero.
- When all updates are made, select Save.
